Head honcho Logam has been keeping a steady stream of releases on his Santoku imprint, standing as an American beacon within the drum & bass world. He's championed its sound across the US since his very first spin behind the decks; having developed expert A&R from his extensive time djing in the scene, he's picked out some of their finest underground figures to take on this single with stellar results.

Logam's own ‘Hypnotic' is given a rework by genre power couple Quadrant and Iris. Although, it's not just in production these guys hold a partnership. One of the few married couples who team up for high-quality music, it's an anomaly within the music industry and a harmonious pairing in both respects.

Already a huge track within its own right, ‘Hypnotic' is a flurry of grimy beats and it's more about that delicious groove than a climatic drop. Increasing the pressure, it features a crisp mixdown, with a bass that literally crunches beneath each layer and tinny drums which skip between beats. It gradually surges, with segments building on top of the other to become more and more menacing between each loop pattern. Quadrant and Iris bring the sound they're famed for, and one which Santoku has fixated over, releasing yet another dynamic harvest from the pair.

Yet again proving Logam's impeccable vision for US newcomers, he's enlisted the help of dLo for next track ‘Free Fall'. The Texan producer proves his ability to hang out with the bigger weights, with a stringently tight track that dives between each chomping roll of snare. It adds a different reflection to the singles earlier part, with a bass distortion that follows you down a path of tinkling hi-hats and ethereal vocal samples. It's fresh yet continues to push an underground ethos from start to finish, proving that the US has talent within every state.

The momentum for Santoku is only just beginning, with this next release adding another reason for you to watch their movements closely. Setting a benchmark for US drum & bass, it won't be long before they become even more recognised globally for their impressive string of releases.
