SAN011 sees four artists contribute to two fresh tracks which will fit right into the very best neurofunk and techstep selections. Mayhem & Logam have their Ouroboros cut remixed by Jade, before Logam joins new artists Mean Teeth & Cosmistic on Solaris.
As a name synonymous with the neurofunk sound, Jade is the man to have on remix duties. The Hungarian producer is very much a man in demand, so Santoku were eager to snap up his services.
Conversely, Mean Teeth & Cosmistic are up and coming producers from Estonia, who have already had a release on Bad Taste Recordings.
Mayhem & Logam’s Ouroboros is a mean and brooding piece of music, given even more depth by Jade’s remix. The creeping, almost quiet opening lulls you completely into a false sense of security, before the electronics rain down on you. Jade builds things back up with force and menace, assaulting you with huge tech-influenced rhythms and collapsing drums. Widescreen, cinematic sounds take over your eardrums, as echoes of the far reaches of the galaxy and beyond are realised through the Ouroboros. Follow your own tail, and reach out for SAN011.
The flip side, Mean Teeth & Cosmistic Solaris, featuring Logam, is equally dark and murky, using roughhand tactics as beats and bass are layered in and dropped from a great height. Tiny glimpses of melody and samples are there to be found, but the main features are some incredibly well produced basslines and heavyweight drum loops. There’s class, quality and timeliness on display here a group with skills and passion beyond their years. Watch as the tune drops down, levelling out, before an injection of pace brings things back up, to keep on unleashing some futuristic beats for your feet and your ears.
SAN011 is another must have release from Santoku Records.
